Okay, so I've owned my SL since October of '08, but I haven't really driven it much. It now is having issues running, and I'm wanting to do the 120K (because I'm not sure if the previous owner did it), replace the vacuum hoses, and make sure the timing is dead on. My main questions are: What all do I need to buy to do what I'm looking to do? Where can I get a vacuum hose kit, or is there not one available? How hard is it to replace the timing belt/tensioner/etc.? What cost am I looking at for all of this?

120K job is not fun if you've never done it before. Power tools help, but aren't necessary...and plan on an 8-10 hour job minimum. I did my first 120K with my Dad who was a mechanic for 25 years and it still took us 8 hours. I went with the ebay 120K kit for mine, it didn't have as much as that IPS, but it only ran me like $170 for it, and I haven't had any problems with any of the parts included. The only thing you may want to look into spending a lil extra on is the Timing Belt itself, and good one goes for a minimum of $100. And I have no idea on the vacuum hose kit...like Jared said, check with a Mitsu Dealer, and prepeare to be raped.

Vacuum hose - I would just go to any auto parts store and just buy vacuum hose off the reel. The only one you would need to look into that is special would be the hose running from the back upper intake to the brake booster as it has a one way orifice in it.

Brent: You should come help me do my 120K! I priced a timing belt from a parts store a while back, and it cost like $103. I need to sell my van, then I'm dumping cash into the car. Decided against buying that Saturn, after all. Greg: My dad said the same thing, and I'll be hitting up Auto Zone (discounts rock!). I assume that vacuum hose you referred to will cost me about ~$20?

Lol, well at 19... I can't buy beer. But I can give you the money for it. And there's a poll up on *** for that meet I was trying to plan, so if we can get it together, maybe I could get you guys to help me while you're here.

Well, it was pretty nice out the other day. There's a date poll up on f105 at ***, so if you check up there, and vote, we should be cool. And we can get something together
